acting cubed theatre group

In April 2009 a diverse group of new performing artists embarked upon their third Art of Acting programme at Glasgow’s University of Strathclyde administered by The Ramshorn Theatre. The group was made up of an eclectic mix of people with varying levels of experience in the theatre, film, television, dance, music, comedy, photography and modelling. The group’s diversity was also evident by the varied professional backgrounds of the members e.g. law, medicine, finance, IT, marketing and sales to name only a few.

During the Acting 3 course the group’s enthusiasm for acting together strengthened and as a result three of the actors decided to take steps towards creating a new theatre company for the group members to enjoy.

Shortly after the company’s inception, it was decided the focus would be on two areas – cubed productions would be a commercial wing covering various media and performance art and acting cubed theatre group would stage various stage productions.

So in June 2009 acting cubed was formed by Tony McCaffery, Alan Hendry and Claire Martin. The newly formed company committee invited colleagues from the Art of Acting programme to work together to stage their first production in October 2009, Neil Simon’s biggest Broadway hit: Plaza Suite...

Performed over 3 shows at the Fort Theatre, with a set generously donated by BoConcept Glasgow, acting cubed premiered with great style and substance.

Next stop for acting cubed was Gilmorehill G12 Theatre for a satirical production of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s The Visit. This lavish 5 show run received fantastic coverage from the media and rave reviews from patrons. And they’re looking forward to doing it all again…
